About Me

Hi, I’m Kansav. I was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey and I’m currently studying in New York City pursuing a degree in 2D Animation. I have always loved storytelling ever since I was a kid and had a passion for creating my own stories and worlds. In 2018, when I was a junior in high school, I was stuck between pursuing animation or illustration. Right around the time Into The Spider-Verse came out, I went to see the movie opening night with my closest friends and was blown away.

 

 It made me realize how truly limitless the medium of animation could be and pushed me over the edge to pursue a career in this field. I grew up reading any comic I could get my hands on and still do to this day, that’s why I try to incorporate a comic book-y style into my projects. Over the past two years of my animation journey, I have come to find a great passion for visual development and character design. 

 

Conceptualizing a story from the ground up and crafting characters and worlds that fit the look and feel of a story is my favorite part of the animation timeline. I aspire to work in this position in big studio movies one day but before that, I strive to get my feet wet in the world of indie animation and freelance work. These days I am working as a character and color designer on my class’ collaborative film and fast at work creating my own noir cyberpunk story called “Gumshoe” on the side.
